The support of our friendly Children’s Centre team

Our Manager, Teresa and Deputy Manager, Amy and our team of volunteers provide a warm, non-judgmental welcome and are available to support your parenting, to be a listening ear and to “signpost” you to other services if you need or wish to do this. They offer one to one support as well as a range of activities.

Teresa Bott

Children’s Centre Manager

Teresa has a Diploma in Community Welfare Work and has a wealth of experience in social care.

Locally she has worked for the Committee for Health and Social Care as a Residential Support Worker, Contact Supervisor and Family Support Worker before taking on this role. She has recently gained a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.

Amy Hook

Children’s Centre Deputy Manager

Amy has 10 years experience of working with families and young children in children’s centres and nurseries in the UK.

Amy has an NVQ Level 3 in Children’s Care, Learning and Development and a Level 2 Certificate in Counselling with Bereavement and Loss Awareness. She is also trained in Baby Massage and is currently undertaking the Compassionate Inquiry Professional Online Training.

Sally Herring

Mellow Co-Ordinator/Family Support Worker

Sally facilitates the Mellow Parenting Programme as well as doing some family support work. Sally has a Certificate in Therapeutic Mentoring, is a Level 1 Theraplay practitioner and has a Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Studies. She also works at the Guernsey Trauma Recovery Centre with the parents of children who have experienced trauma.

Karyn Le Marquand Fda

Nursery Manager

Karyn is local and has lived in Guernsey all her life. She has four children and a granddaughter. She has 25 years experience working in childcare, including nannying, childminding, working in Pre-Schools, and running after school clubs. Karyn was a leader of a private Pre-School for 14 years. 

Karyn has a Foundation Degree in Arts in Early Years Care and Education, Paediatric First Aid, Safeguarding children and young people, Level 3, Team around the Child (TAC) and Lead Professional, Ecers and Iters, Food Hygiene, Autism Awareness, Domestic Violence Awareness.

Kirsty Pengelley

Deputy Manager and Tods Room Leader

Kirsty has a level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce with almost 4 years experience in childcare. Kirsty is Deputy Manager and Room Leader for Toddlers. Kirsty has attended other courses outside work to help support her daily responsibilities within the nursery and preschool, including sign along, food hygiene, safeguarding and domestic abuse awareness.

Kirsty was born in Guernsey and enjoys spending quality time with her family, especially her nieces and nephews.


Tina Miranda Boumaaza

Tods Room Practitioner

Tina was born in Madeira and lived there till she was 8 years old then moved to Guernsey. She’s had a lot of experience working with children, she looked and still looks after family and friends children from time to time. Previously she worked in a Residential Care Home caring for people with dementia, as much as she really enjoyed her job role there, her heart has always been set to work with children.

Tina gained her Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Work Force in 2019. She has training in Child Protection, Level 2 Safeguarding, Essential First Aid Training, Understanding the needs of children with disabilities and additional needs, Team Around the Child.

In my spare time I enjoy spending quality time with my family, especially my nieces, nephews and god children.


Lisa Lorier

Baby Room Leader

Lisa is trained as an NNEB with 20 years experience in many roles including private nanny, nursery manager, crèche supervisor and children’s residential support worker, caring for children from newborn to 18 years of age.

Lisa has completed a wide range of courses including safeguarding children, autism awareness, communicating through play, first aid, conflict resolution and decider skills.

Maddison Taylor

Maddie gained her Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Work Force in May 2018. I have always loved working in Childcare and have gained almost 2 years experience. Maddie has training in Level 2 Food Hygiene, Level 3 Paediatric First Aid, Level 2 Safeguarding.


Jade Stranger

Jade gained her Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Work Force in 2019 but has always had an interest in Childcare. She’s gained experience of working along side children in various settings whilst training at College. She has training in Level 2 Safeguarding Children and Young People, Infant & Child First Aid Training.


Courtney Youlton

Courtney completed her Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Work Force in 2016. She has qualifications in Team Around The Child and Lead Professional Training (TAC). She has worked in a different area of work but had recently begun working in childcare again.

Courtney has lived in Guernsey all her life and enjoys spending time with her friends and family in her spare time.


Sami Young

Sami is a mum to two boys age 4 and 7. She is Level 1 qualified in Childcare and is hoping to do level 3 in the future.

Sami has lots of experience in childcare through childminding, babysitting agencies and helping friends and family. She loves her work throughout the nursery and preschool at Bright Beginnings.

Sami has completed Child Safeguarding Levels 1 and 2, first aid training, Health and Hygiene Levels 1 and 2 and Disability Awareness Levels 1 and 2.
